A seasoned Conroe Police Department lieutenant has died following the catastrophic injuries he incurred during a savage storm that beset southeast Texas. Lieutenant James "Jimmy" Waller, a veteran of 22 years with the force, passed away subsequent to sustaining critical injuries when an EF-1 tornado bore down upon his Trinity County home, as reported by KTRK.

The twister, with wind speeds clocking in at 100 mph, decimated Waller's residence last Sunday while he and his wife were within. The tornado's rampage has now claimed a life after the lieutenant fought valiantly for his survival, undergoing multiple surgeries before his injuries proved insurmountable. In a statement obtained by FOX 26 Houston, the Conroe Police Department said, "Jimmy was a fighter, and he fought hard to the end."

Waller's wife also sustained injuries during the storm and was reported to have been receiving treatment. While her condition was not made public, she remained steadfastly by her husband's side until his passing. The National Weather Service has confirmed the tornado that struck the Rock Creek subdivision, leading to the devastating outcomes for the Waller family and adding to the broader narrative of violent weather ravaging parts of Texas.
