Two homes in DeKalb County, close to Lithonia High School, were engulfed in flames after a pickup truck caught fire overnight. This happened around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night on Rambling Way. DeKalb County firefighters worked tirelessly to control the fire. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the fire quickly spread from the vehicle to a two-story house and the adjacent home. Luckily, the two people inside managed to escape unharmed.

The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire rapidly, preventing further damage to the neighborhood. As it stands, the cause behind the pickup truck explosion and the resulting blaze is still under investigation. In a separate incident early Monday morning, another fire ripped through a Lithonia home on Lown Farm Lane, leaving four adults and a pair of dogs homeless. Reported by WSBTV, the fire was already billowing heavy smoke and flames by the time firefighters reached the scene shortly after 5:30 a.m.

Captain Jaeson Daniels with DeKalb Fire told WSBTV, that everyone had vacated the premises by the firefighters' arrival, and there were no reported injuries. The team coordinated an effective response, but the house suffered extensive damage, displacing its occupants and their pets. Investigations into the cause of this fire are currently ongoing, with fire officials piecing together the events that led up to the unfortunate inferno.
