Fans at the 48th annual Atlanta Film Festival were left starstruck as Ewan McGregor, famed for his role as the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi, made an unexpected entrance during a screening at the Plaza Theatre, reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. Audiences who had gathered on May 4, or "Star Wars Day," to celebrate the 25th anniversary of "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace," were treated to a 30-minute Q&A session with the actor after the show.

According to 11Alive, McGregor’s appearance was a nod to the storied history of high-profile events at the Midtown venue, continuing a tradition of memorable occasions which in recent times included a birthday bash for filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, with the director making an appearance himself.

Post Q&A, McGregor took time to honor community partners from Wax & Wane, with ATLFF associates Rocco Shapiro and Sean Valdivieso receiving autographed collectible lightsabers, as per FOX 5 Atlanta's coverage. The film festival ran for 11 days, showcasing a total of 142 works by filmmakers across 118 countries, with an appreciable 24% featuring contributions from Georgia's own talent pool.

Highlights of the festival were many, with awe-inspiring events such as "The Idea of You" marking the opening night, helmed by Director Michael Showalter; DP Jim Frohna along with Designer Amy Williams also gracing the occasion and the Ossie Davis Award for Innovation in Filmmaking being presented to industry veteran Bill Duke, these are only the tip of the iceberg as the Closing Night featured "Sing Sing", with Filmmaker Greg Kwedar and distinct cast members Clarence "Divine Eye" Maclin, John "Divine G" Whitfield, Sean "Dino" Johnson, and Jon Adrian "JJ" Velazquez making sure the curtains fell on a high note, as per the report by FOX 5 Atlanta.
