A horrific crash involving a box truck and an 18-wheeler claimed a life and caused major disruptions on Highway 90 in west Bexar County, authorities reported. The fatal collision occurred yesterday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 90 and Highway 211, near Medina Valley. The driver of the box truck, who has yet to be identified, was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from his vehicle, as KSAT reported.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the box truck was traveling westbound on the Highway 90 access road and failed to stop at the the intersection. It barreled into the path of the 18-wheeler, resulting in a violent crash. The other driver suffered minor injuries and was released. A statement posted on the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office's Facebook page at 4:45 p.m. indicated that there are no pending charges as the accident remains under investigation.

The aftermath of the accident led to substantial traffic delays, with Highway 211 being shut down for several hours in both directions. Traffic on Highway 90 was also redirected to the access road as a result of the closure. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office advised motorists to avoid the area while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene. Later in the evening, the lanes were reopened, easing the congestion that had built up throughout the afternoon.
