The confrontation followed a dangerous high-speed pursuit that began when Lane County deputies coupled with Oregon State Police troopers spotted the suspects in a stolen vehicle on Interstate 5, according to KATU. The chase, which crawled in chaos from Exit 209, was reeled in near Diamond Hill Road after spike strips slowed the black Honda Civic, reported stolen earlier in the day the fugitives, identified as 30-year-olds Cameron James Bielman and Yasmina Destinee Teal of Anacortes, Wash, they raced north, desperate to evade capture.

Earlier that afternoon, Bielman and Teal were reportedly involved in a shooting in Coburg, which catapulted a man into critical condition before the pair fled the scene, noted KGW. The crisis escalated several hours later once law enforcement located the Civic and launched into the pursuit that ended with spike strips and the eventual vehicle crash.
