Houston Independent School District trails behind, wrapping up later on June 5.

In the meantime, HISD isn't only focusing solely on the end but also the beginning of the next academic cycle. The district has recently proposed a new academic calendar for the 2024-2025 school year which, according to a statement obtained by Click2Houston, "puts kids first and provides the learning time our students need." This new calendar suggests to seriously shake up the routine, setting the school start date for August 12, departing from the previous August 28 start date in 2023.

Community feedback played a pivot role in developing the proposed HISD calendar for the next year.
