A deadly confrontation in Austin ended with one man dead after a woman allegedly stabbed him during a heated argument, as per Chicago police reports. The incident occurred late Wednesday evening within the confines of an apartment located at the 100 block of North Lotus Avenue.

The dispute, escalating to physical violence, saw the unidentified man reportedly assault the woman by placing his hands around her neck, this set of events was confirmed by both the Chicago Sun-Times and WGN-TV; in response, the woman is said to have pulled out a knife, stabbing the man on the right side of his neck which resulted in critical injuries leading to his death shortly after at Stroger Hospital.

Following the altercation, the woman was taken to a local hospital to be treated for facial and bodily bruising, details of her condition have not been immediately available yet Area Four detectives are pursuing an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter.

The names of those involved have not been released as the investigation continues.
