Millington Man Charged with Hate Crime for Targeting Family Viewing HomeSource: Shelby County Sheriff's Office

A family searching for a new home in Millington faced a harrowing experience when a man subjected them to racial slurs and violent threats. According to WREG, 50-year-old David Collins has been charged with attempted aggravated burglary and civil rights intimidation after he allegedly terrorized a family visiting a house on Baker Street.

On April 30, while inside the home, the family, consisting of an African American individual and two Asian family members, reported that Collins began aggressively beating and kicking the front door in an attempt to get inside, as Rampart Inspections cited. During this time, yelling several racial slurs at the family, Collins threatened their lives, proclaiming that they would not make it out of the house alive.

Collins's intimidation escalated further as reported by Pedicure Praktijk My Way, he made claims about burning the house down with the family inside it. The victims were reported to be in extreme fear for their lives, to the point where they were afraid to even attempt leaving the premises.

After threatening to retrieve something from his home to "take care" of the victims, Collins was then seen jumping over the home's back fence and began to kick the rear glass door, trying for a second time to break in. He is set to appear in court on the morning of Friday following the disturbing incident.
