Minneapolis residents are in for a gusty and stormy week, according to the latest weather reports from the government. Starting today, increasing clouds are rolling in, with winds ramping up to breezy conditions, "with a southeast wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon," and gusts that could reach as high as 30 mph, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

Tonight, the city is bracing for a 100% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am, with new rainfall amounts of a quarter to half of an inch possible, the service added. As the work week continues, Tuesday will see showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1pm, with a high near 68 degrees. Residents, should be on the lookout on Tuesday night as the chance of precipitation drops to 30%, however, scattered thunderstorms are still possible.

According to a separate Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the NWS, "Southeast winds will gust over 40 mph this afternoon & evening across west-central & southwest Minnesota." Isolated strong thunderstorms tonight could carry strong wind gusts, posing a risk to the area.

The rest of the week doesn't offer much reprieve. Wednesday's forecast hints at a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm, under mostly sunny skies with a high near 70. The outlook for Thursday and Friday shows mostly sunny conditions, though a slight chance of showers persists. The NWS warns, "Scattered thunderstorms redevelop Tuesday afternoon, primarily
across eastern Minnesota & western Wisconsin." If these thunderstorms escalate, large hail and damaging winds can't be ruled out. Local SKYWARN spotter activation may be necessary in managing the potential hazards.

As the week winds down, the forecast for Saturday calls for a 20 percent chance of showers during a mostly sunny day, with a high near 65. Moving into Sunday, chances of showers and thunderstorms linger, continuing the trend of unpredictable weather as Minneapolis weathers the brunt of spring's volatility.
