Nighttime Lane Closures on U.S. 202 in Montgomery County as PennDOT Begins Paving WorkSource: Unsplash/Matthew Hamilton

Heads up, night owls and night shifters driving through Montgomery County—it's about to get bumpy, but only temporarily. Starting Monday, expect delays on U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) as PennDOT kicks off milling and paving work that's part of a broader, $55.2 million improvement storm.

From May 6 to May 17, crews will have a stretch of U.S. 202 northbound and southbound, from Johnson Highway to Township Line Road, down to one lane from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the next morning. Work will shove traffic into tighter confines, so drivers should give themselves a bit of extra time.

The extensive project, which spans approximately 1.8 miles and onto Swede Road in Norristown and East Norriton, besides Whitpain townships, aims to widen and reconstruct this busy corridor, according to PennDOT's announcement.

Like most road works, this one is dependent on the weather, so if Mother Nature decides to interfere, schedules could change. Motorists should be prepared for changes in traffic patterns, but it's all for the benefit of smoother, safer drives in the future. Remember that patience is key, even when dealing with construction.
