Phoenix Sanctuary Benefits From Anonymous Donor Funding Sheep Shearing EffortSource: Facebook/Farm Angels Sanctuary

In a generous act of charity, an unnamed company has stepped up to fund the shearing of all sheep at Farm Angels Sanctuary in the Phoenix area, as per reports from FOX 10 Phoenix. The sanctuary, which is a haven for more than 100 animals, was established in 2018 by Lisa Buccigrosse, who voiced her relief at the much-needed support.

Buccigrosse stated, "We started this as a rescue and sanctuary for farm animals. We have horses, sheep, goats, pigs, llamas, alpacas, and a variety of birds," in an interview obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. The animals' welfare is particularly important given the sweltering Arizona heat, which can lead to heat exhaustion and even death if the animals are not properly shorn. "They need the wool off with the heat we get here in Arizona," Buccigrosse added. A sentiment echoed by one of Arizona's few sheep shearers, Mick Hofmann, who mentioned, "You need to share sheep at least once a year, otherwise they will succumb to the heat."

The ordeal of grooming the animals fell on May 2nd and involved much more than shearing. Hofmann, who was entrusted with the task, outlined the process to Potter's House Church's online portal, saying, "We clip their nails, then we share them. We always follow the same pattern, and that’s for preservation as well as efficiency of time." Hofmann's expertise allows him to shear an animal in under five minutes—a critical skill in managing the sheer number of livestock that needed tending.
