Seattle's summer shuffle is set to begin with a major road closure poised to snarl traffic and try the patience of daily commuters. According to the Department of Enterprise Services, 15th Avenue Southwest will be out of commission starting May 6 through to June 10, as crews dive into heavy construction efforts. The stretch of road from Columbia Street to Water Street is about to undergo a complete overhaul with the existing asphalt being ripped up, the ground regraded, and a fresh pavement laid down.

In the statement obtained by Department of Enterprise Servises, the meticulous process will involve tearing out the sidewalk, curb, and gutter on the north side of 15th Avenue Southwest before laying down new electrical conduit. Even before the reinstallation of a smoother sidewalk, gutter, and curb can take place, each aspect of this tactical renewal demands the complete closure of the said roadway section.

While Hoffman Construction from Seattle has been brought on board for this public works dance, residents should prep themselves for rerouted days ahead. The sidewalk on the north side won't be taking any foot traffic either, gripping nearby businesses and pedestrians with the inconvenience of detours and delays.
