Suspected Pharmacy Burglars Arrested After Ventura County Heists Foiled by SecuritySource: Facebook/Ventura County Sheriff's Office

Pharmacy heists thwarted by savvy security measures have led to the arrest of two suspects in Ventura County, authorities say. In a string of early-morning break-ins last December suspects targeted pharmacies only to be stopped cold by prepared store owners. The suspects, identified as Daniel Godinez and Emmanuel Ojeda, were arrested following an extensive investigation, according to a news release from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The attempted burglaries began on December 29th, 2023, when multiple individuals attempted to force their way into a Simi Valley pharmacy. After being stymied by security barriers, the crew hit two more pharmacies in the Thousand Oaks area within the same hour. Despite their efforts, the suspects were left empty-handed, as the robust security measures enacted by the businesses proved effective. Senior Deputy Robert Curiel prepared the initial report detailing the incidents and subsequent arrests.

Godinez was apprehended at his Lynwood residence on April 16th, marking the first major breakthrough in the case. Following his capture, the authorities turned their attention to Emmanuel Ojeda, who was located and arrested without incident on May 2nd in Huntington Park. Their bail was set at $50,000, and both men are facing burglary charges under Penal Code 459, as confirmed by Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility records.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department has issued a reminder to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior. "If you see something, say something," they advise, urging residents to contact law enforcement promptly through either 911 or their non-emergency line. The department's accessibility extends across social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and community alert services like Nixle.

Encouraging community involvement, Ventura County Crime Stoppers has offered up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and charge of the persons involved in these crimes. Tipsters can remain anonymous and are encouraged to call 800-222-TIPS (8477). Detective Romario Chavez, point of contact for media follow-up, can be reached for additional information regarding the investigation.
