The Town of Windsor Police Department reports a robbery suspect was taken down after leading cops on a dangerous pursuit that hit 109 mph. The duo of suspects had their run cut short thanks to the dogged efforts of local law enforcement.

It all started on Friday at a Walmart where, according to the Town of Windsor Police Department's Facebook page, 31-year-old Evan Murden and 33-year-old Destiny Turney were caught on camera stuffing a cart with goods exceeding $1,000. Turney went unnoticed, but Murden was confronted when he tried to exit with the bounty. He assaulted a loss prevention employee, trashed the worker's cell phone, dusted his hands off the scene, and bolted with the goods and his accomplice in tow.

The drama intensified as officers gave chase on Hembree Lane, with the getaway car pushing the pedal to the metal in a failed bid to shake the deputies, the department narrated. In a desperate grasp at freedom, Murden shot down the east side of Windsor before roaring onto northbound Highway 101. Deputies clung to his tail, weaving through traffic until a PIT maneuver by police ended the high-octane gambit.

Murden ran into The Lodge at Healdsburg, but the law was quicker, trapping him in an external stairwell. The man's efforts were for naught, as the police had the final say. "Murden was located hiding in an outside stairwell and was taken into custody," the Windsor Police said. Back at the car, Turney was rounded up without fanfare. Both suspects were escorted to the Sonoma County jail, with Murden's bail jumping to $50,000 and Turney later released on a citation.
