It's Thursday, and hearts and minds are turning towards the weekend ahead. Luckily, there's a lot to do in and around North Beach this weekend, especially if you're in the mood for family-friendly fun.

If you've got kids in tow, or even if you don't, don't miss the Ferry Building's annual Goat Festival on Saturday, which offers everything from goat cheese and goat tacos (to eat) to live baby goats (to pet and Instagram). If you're headed down Embarcadero way on Sunday, keep an eye out for a pop-inspired dance mob, which will have two performances along the waterfront. A screening of The Wizard of Oz at the North Beach Library and a Junior Ranger Day at the Hyde Street Pier round out the kid-friendly options.

If you're looking to learn more about Chinatown's past, look no further than Saturday afternoon's book launch for Images of America: San Francisco's Chinatown. It'll include a lecture and slide show of vintage photos from the neighborhood; more info in our story here. And, as always, there's plenty of drinking, comedy, and other options for bawdy entertainment around the neighborhood: just follow your feet to find more to do.
