The worker was likely involved with the second phase of SF Public Works' Telegraph Hill Rock Slope Improvement Project, which began earlier this year. The project consists of rock-slope repair, rock excavation and slope stabilization below Coit Tower and along a side of Chestnut Street which saw a rockslide in December 2014.
Update, 9:05am: Rescue workers are navigating what SFFD calls "difficult terrain" to extract the victim, who remains conscious.
