In an announcement yesterday, restaurateur and chef Ryan Scott said that he'll be closing Potrero Hill’s popular sandwich shop Market & Rye at the end of August.

If you recall, Scott closed Market & Rye’s West Portal location in 2014 to dedicate himself to the Potrero Hill location and Mason (the former Mojo Kitchen) right next door; however, Mason too was shuttered only four months later.

Regarding Market & Rye's closure, Scott said in a press release that “we had a lot of fun, but I’m so focused on Finn Town together with my cookbook launch, expanded radio show and media appearances, that it makes sense to step away.”

The building’s landlord is reportedly accepting applicants for potential new restaurants at 300 De Haro St.

As we previously reported, Finn Town Tavern  is preparing for a fall opening in the Castro—“late October,” as it was stated in yesterday’s announcement.

According to Scott, Market & Rye die-hards (crispy chicken sandwich lovers, we know who you are) can expect to see some of their menu favorites on Finn Town’s Market Street menu come October.

Think about it: Potrero Hill and the Castro could be farther apart. All is not lost.
