The festive events are coming fast and furious this holiday week around North Beach.

In case you're in the market for some last-minute Thanksgiving plans, many of the area restaurants will be open, but definitely call ahead to double-check availability. If you prefer a vegan alternative to the traditional holiday meal, Peña Pachamama (1630 Powell St.) will be hosting a four-course vegan and raw vegan fusion dinner, along with music and dancing, beginning at 5pm. (Tickets start at $15.) If your sweet tooth isn't satiated, Tamarind Hall (1268 Grant Ave.) will be giving away free pumpkin custard cake slices to all customers tomorrow.

Lastly, if you need to stretch your legs, the Beat Museum (540 Broadway) will be one of the only city museums open on Thanksgiving.

If you missed the holiday season kick-off events last weekend, there are three more heading your way. On Friday, there's the 27th Annual Great Tree Lighting Ceremony in Union Square, complete with several musical performances leading up to the lighting of an 83-foot reusable Christmas tree. Closer to the bay, Ghirardelli Square will fire up its tree around 7pm, with free kids activities, live music, a visit from Santa and—through perhaps the sheer magic of the season—snow.

If you're still in the market for a tree-lighting celebration at all that, swing by 555 California St. on Tuesday for the lighting of a 80-ft tall tree from Shasta County, one of the tallest in the region, accompanied by a performance by the Grammy-winning rock band The Doobie Brothers. The event is free and starts at 5pm.

Have a happy Thanksgiving!
