'Push The Feeling' Celebrates 5 Years At Underground SF This SaturdayFolks pushin' the feeling. | Photo: Kevin Meenan

If you feel like beating the rain this weekend by breaking a sweat on a cozy dance floor, we just might have the party for you.

This Saturday marks the five year anniversary of Push The Feeling, a monthly event at Underground SF headed up by local DJs Kevin Meenan (formerly epicsauce) and Marcogliese (Drew Marcliogese, formerly YR SKULL). This will mark the 55th party the pair of friends, who met in high school, have thrown together, and while each night has always featured a special guest artist, Saturday's party will feature alternating all-vinyl sets exclusively from the Push The Feeling founders.

Back in the summer of 2015, we did an in-depth profile of the party and the team behind it, which you can check out here. For those not in the know, Push The Feeling is a dance party that takes place at Underground SF on the first Saturday of every month. Over the years, it's evolved from electronic producers who would bring their gear and perform live at the club (think acts like Magic Touch, Roche, Benedek, Plaza, Octo Octa, and Peaking Lights Acid Test), to the more straightforward DJ-focused party it is today, which has brought in guest acts such as Awesome Tapes From Africa, Jex Opolis, Avalon Emerson, Matrixxman, Les Sins (aka Toro Y Moi), The Beat Broker, Secret Circuit and Suzanne Kraft.

"In the beginning, the glue behind it all was an outsider approach to house and techno. It was very gear-heavy," Meenan told us in a phone call this week. However, he explained that throwing the party each month made him and Marcogliese grow a lot as DJs, and opened their minds to more electronic music.

"It's forced me to go down the rabbit hole with music much more," he said. "We've had the opportunity to have many of our favorite acts play. That's also pushed us further."

In celebration of the anniversary, the party on Saturday will be free, and it starts at 10pm. So if you're in the area, pop your head in and see what Push The Feeling is all about.

"I've ranted before to Hoodline about how much I love the Lower Haight, so will spare you on that," Meenan told us. "But needless to say, I am just thrilled to be doing this party in what is undoubtedly the best neighborhood in San Francisco. Here's to the next five years!"
