While we don't report on every crime that occurs in Hayes Valley and the Western Addition, we do our best to keep you informed about what happened in the neighborhood. Here's a selection of crimes since our last roundup in January.

All reports were provided by the SFPD, unless otherwise noted.

Cell Phone Robbery With Force

On January 29th at 9:30am, a man snatched a woman's cellphone out of her hand on the 1500 block of Van Ness Avenue (between Pine and California), causing her to fall. The suspect then got into a vehicle with a second suspect inside, and they both fled the scene. No arrest has been made.

Delivery Vehicle Carjacking

A man was returning to his delivery vehicle at Octavia Boulevard & Green Street around 4pm on January 25th when another man approached him, brandished a handgun, and demanded that the victim hand over the keys. He complied, and the suspect fled in the vehicle, with another suspect following behind it in a car.

The victim tracked the delivery vehicle and provided the location to officers who arrived on the scene. Officers located the vehicle, the suspect vehicle, and three suspects. The officers arrested one man; however, two other men fled the scene on foot.

Woman Transported To Hospital After Home Invasion

At around 11am on January 20th, a 66-year-old woman heard a knock at the door at a residence on the 900 block of Laguna Street (between Golden Gate and McAllister). She opened the door and a man and a woman pushed their way in. One of them punched the victim in the face.

One of the suspects then held the victim's cane against her and threatened her with a knife, as other suspect searched the residence for items to steal. Afterwards, both suspects fled the complex. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No arrest has been made, and police did not note what had been stolen.

Laptop Vanishes During Shower

On January 19th at 9pm, a man was using his laptop inside his home on the 600 block of Haight Street (between Steiner and Pierce). He then went to take a shower, but when he came back, his laptop was gone. No signs of forced entry were found, and the door was locked. The victim did not see a suspect.

Assault And Robbery After Ride-Hailing Mix-Up

Early in the morning on January 18th, a 27-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed after entering a vehicle on the 500 block of Divisadero Street, which she apparently mistook for a ride ordered via a ride-hailing app. She suffered no injuries, but did report the loss of her phone, purse, and credit cards. No arrests have been made. For more information, here’s our full story.
