Good things come in threes, which means music fans can triple down on San Francisco Symphony shows this weekend. There's a concert with pianist Ben Folds tomorrow night, Holst's orchestral suite The Planets on Saturday evening, and its popular free outdoor concert moves to Pier 27 on Sunday.

San Francisco will welcome nearly 30,000 runners for the 40th San Francisco Marathon which starts bright and early on Sunday along the Embarcadero.

Race organizers have sponsored a health and fitness expo at Fort Mason on Friday and Saturday and you can check their website for spectator information and viewing areas, in addition to city-wide traffic advisories

Elsewhere this weekend, the 37th annual Jewish Film Festival kicks off tonight in the Mission, the Aquarium by the Bay has a slew of offerings to celebrate Shark Week, and check into Southern Pacific Brewing on Saturday to take part in the Great San Francisco Charity Scavenger Hunt with proceeds going to St. Francis Homeless Challenge.
