Last night around 9:30pm, an unknown driver abandoned a four-door sedan on a traffic island at the intersection of Noe and Beaver streets in Duboce Triangle.

“A neighbor told me the car had been left there about 30 [minutes] when I came home and found it parked on the traffic island at 9:45,” Twitter user @jamisonsf told Hoodline.

He contacted 311 after coming across the scene; a representative responded shortly to say police had been dispatched to the scene.

The car was removed overnight, but one of two palm trees planted on the traffic island has been knocked over and awaits removal. Several potted plants cultivated on the spot by neighbors also suffered a substantial negative outcome.

Officer Giselle Linnane of SFPD Media Relations told Hoodline that police reports indicate that "a friend of the driver" contacted police.

The driver was asked to return to the scene, but "it's unclear at this time" if they did so, she said.

Because no one was injured and no other vehicles were involved, Linnane said damage to city property and illegal parking were likely the worst penalties the driver is facing.

"It’s property, not a person," she said.
