Police Seek Suspects In Pacific Heights & Marina CarjackingsBroadway between Steiner and Pierce. | Image: Google Maps

Two men were involved in separate incidents last night: a carjacking in Pacific Heights and an attempted carjacking in the Marina.

In the first incident, just after midnight. A 21-year-old man was sitting inside his car on the 2400 block of Broadway (between Steiner and Pierce streets) when three suspects drove up.

A man described as being between 28 and 34-years-old and another man in his late 20s approached the victim after exiting from the rear of their car. The victim also got out of his vehicle.

The older suspect pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his money, while the one who appeared to be younger took the victim's cellphone and car keys, and fled in the victim's car. The first suspect then got into the suspects' car and fled eastbound on Broadway.

The victim was injured with a complaint of pain to his face. He refused medical attention and is in stable condition. Later, his car was recovered, unoccupied.

The same suspects later attempted a second carjacking at Lombard and Webster in the Marina about 14 minutes after the first incident.

A 29-year-old man was sitting in his car when suspects approached and tried to open his doors. As the victim drove away—preventing the suspects from entering—the first suspect fired a round into his car.

The two suspects then fled in an unknown direction.

No arrests were made. Police are now seeking the two suspects and a third man who may have been involved in the first carjacking.

Anyone who has information about these incidents is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.

Here’s why we usually don’t include suspect descriptions in crime reports.
