Here's a sample of recent criminal activity that has taken place in the SoMa District in the last two weeks since our last recap. Unless otherwise noted, all crimes reported have been taken from the SFPD blotter.

Woman robbed while holding infant

A 31-year-old woman was holding her infant daughter when she was shoved during a robbery on 7th and Natoma streets at 9:10am on August 3rd. For more information, here's our story

Man stabbed at homeless shelter

A 60-year-old man was stabbed at a homeless shelter on September 6th on the 500 block of 5th Street (and Bryant) in SoMa. For more information, here's our story.

Man shot by unknown suspect

A 27-year-old man was shot at 1:36am on September 3rd at 6th Street and Ahern Way. The victim heard shots as he was walking down the street and noticed he’d been shot. He then transported himself to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No description of the suspect or the suspect vehicle is available, and no arrest has been made.

Woman receives life-threatening injuries in robbery

Three male suspects severely injured a 69-year-old woman while attempting to rob her on August 28th. The crime took place at the unit block of Lansing Street at 10:00pm. For more information, here's our story

Delivery van carjacked 

At 6:25pm on August 27th, a delivery van was carjacked from the unit block of Langton Street. The  victim—a 24-year-old delivery driver—was in his van sorting packages when a 40-year-old suspect approached the victim and grabbed his car keys.

The suspect told the victim he had a gun; the driver fled the scene and called police, but no arrest was made in the case. By the time the victim returned with police, the van was gone.

6th Street: three stabbings, one week

On August 24th, a 26-year-old man was stabbed on the 100 block of 6th Street. The stabbing took place at 1:19am and the victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police reported that the victim and the suspect—described as a 50-year-old man—got into an dispute over money, when the suspect stabbed the victim and walked away. The suspect then fled on a bicycle. 

A few days before, another stabbing took place at at 5:00am on August 20th, a 31-year-old man was assaulted with an “edged weapon” on 6th and Natoma streets. Police said that the victim and the suspect, a 50-year-old male, were arguing, when the suspect produced a weapon and stabbed the victim, who was later hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries. 

A 43-year-old male victim was also injured in an assault at 6th and Natoma streets at 5:00pm on August 19th. The suspect—a man between 35-40 years old—was hitting an unknown female when the victim confronted him. The suspect slashed the victim with a knife and fled the scene. The victim sustained lacerations.

No arrests were made. 

Multiple suspects involved in assault, robbery

At 3:00am on August 19th, a violent robbery took place at the 700 block of Harrison Street.

One of the four suspects, a female whose age is unknown, approached the 19-year-old male victim and punched him in the face. One of the 20-year-old female victims attempted to intervene, and was punched by the second suspect, described as a man in his early 20s.

The first suspect also hit her, at which point, her phone fell to the ground. One of the female suspects grabbed the victim's phone, and then all four suspects—including another female suspect between 18 and 25 years old—fled eastbound on foot on Bryant Street. No arrest has been made in the robbery. The victims involved refused medical treatment.  

Man shot after fight

A 33-year-old man was shot in the leg after an altercation at 5th Street and Howard Street on August 15th at 2:37pm. The suspect, described as a 42-year-old man, confronted the victim on the street and a fight ensued. The suspect then shot the victim, who sustained non-life threatening injuries and was hospitalized.

Police have arrested a suspect in the incident.
