Here's a selection of crimes that have occurred in the area since our last roundup in early August. All reports were provided by the SFPD, unless otherwise noted.

Robbers force 83-year-old man to use ATM

After a 83-year-old man crossed the street outside of a crosswalk on Market and Haight streets on October 4th at 1:30pm, two 30-year-old men stopped him. 

They demanded his property and forced the victim to use his bank card at an ATM. The suspects then fled with his bank card and currency.

Elderly Muni rider snatches woman's necklace

A 70-year-old man was sitting next to a 72-year-old woman on the bus on September 15th at 1:36pm. He then followed her off the bus at Van Ness Avenue and McAllister Street, ripped her necklace off of her neck from behind and walked away. The victim was not injured during the incident.

Man punched, robbed while feeding parking meter

On September 2nd at 12:54pm, a 27-year-old man was putting money in the meter on the 300 block of Grove Street when a 50-year-old man came up from behind and punched him. The victim fell, which caused him injuries. He then saw that the suspect was fleeing with his property, a cellphone and wallet.

The victim chased and detained the suspect with passerby assistance and recovered his property. The suspect was placed in custody when police arrived. The 27-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.

Assault after bag goes missing

On August 29th a 35-year-old man was on the sidewalk at Gough and Page streets between 3 and 4am in the morning, when he noticed his bag with several items inside was missing.

He then walked and observed a 35-year-old man holding what he believed was his bag. He confronted the suspect, who then punched him. The victim did not recover his bag and walked to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Porta-potty set abaze

On August 21st at 11:45pm an unknown male set a porta potty on the 200 block of Buchanan Street on fire and fled the scene. SFFD then notified the police about the fire investigation. No injuries were reported.

Cyclist punches pedestrian, steals her phone

On August 13th at 8:55am a 60-year-old woman was walking on Grove and Franklin streets. She was on her phone when a 20-year-old man rode up on a bike and punched her. He then grabbed her phone and fled. The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries.
