3 Robbed, Assaulted In 2 Separate Muni MuggingsPhoto: SFMTA

In two separate incidents, three people were beaten and robbed while riding Muni buses over the weekend.

Last night at 11:38pm on a bus near 10th and Mission streets, a 36-year-old woman approached a female passenger, 34, “and punched her.” The victim “jumped up and ran off the bus,” leaving her bag behind, which was taken by the suspect.

The victim was injured, but refused transport to a hospital. When police arrived, they arrested the assailant and recovered the victim’s property.

On Saturday afternoon at 12:30pm, a 13-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were riding a bus near Fillmore and McAllister streets when one of six teenagers—3 boys and 3 girls—sprayed the boy with air freshener.

Another suspect slapped the boy’s phone out of his hand; when his companion tried to intervene, another suspect punched her before all six suspects got off the bus. No arrests were made, and the girl who was struck received treatment at the scene for her injuries.

Anyone who has information about either of these incidents is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.

Here’s why we usually don’t include suspect descriptions in crime reports.
