The tree is up at Jack London Square, so we're officially in the holiday season. If you aren't fully ready to embrace that fact, we've got you covered with a range of events that have no relation to shopping and commerce.

Music fans have a lot to look forward to: the Ol' Uptown Throwdown (Live Piano) w/ Graham Richards continues every Thursday until December 28th.  Francisco Fernandez & The Ferocious Few are performing at Uptown Nightclub, legendary drummer Sheila E. will be on stage at the Paramount with George Clinton, Freddie Stone and Escovedo Family, and Pixies are performing at Fox Theater.

Laughs will be found at Friday Funnies and Comedy Oakland Presents, and Friday Nights at OMCA offers half-price admission, hands-on activities for kids, and a lineup of live music and dance—plus a chance to browse the museum's exhibits after hours.

Here's a list of other events happening in Oakland over the next few days:

Thursday, December 7

Friday, December 8

Saturday, December 9

Sunday, December 10
