A Muni driver was kidnapped last night by a passenger who claimed to be armed, police have reported.

The incident occurred at 9:42pm near Sunnydale Avenue and Hahn Street in the Sunnydale district when a man in his twenties boarded a bus, approached the 30-year-old male driver, and said he was in possession of a handgun.

The suspect threatened the driver and ordered him to drive him to a specific location; when the bus reached Sunnydale Avenue and Santos Street—about a block away—the suspect got off the bus and fled on foot.

According to police, the suspect may have simulated being in possession of a weapon.
