Megafauna Coffee, a new pop-up café, recently opened at 1098 Jackson St. in Nob Hill in the former home of The Fine Mousse, which we reported closed last month after nearly two years in operation.

The newcomer bills itself as a small-scale coffee roaster, according to its website, and offers a diverse selection of espresso drinks and cold brew coffees featuring beans from Seattle's Olympia Coffee and Victrola Coffee Roasters.

Megafauna also features a variety of seasonal breakfast and brunch fare, too, such as sourdough toast with garbanzo, tahini, mint and smoked paprika; Greek yogurt with persimmon, cara cara citrus and Granny Smith apples; and multi-grain toast with avocado and smoked sturgeon.

Rounding things out are drinks like kombucha, a house-made horchata and a selection of wines and beers.

There are two reviews on Yelp thus far, which give it five stars.

Emily S., the first Yelper to review the new spot, said it was "a wonderful pop up coffee shop with pour-overs ($4.50-$6), espresso and a delicious menu of toasts, yogurts and salads. Check it out!"

"The artisanal coffee selection was a lot of fun," wrote customer N.K. "More like wine tasting than coffee drinking, and that compelled us to drink a little more coffee than we thought we would. I also like that the coffee didn't come scalding hot."

Megafauna Coffee (1098 Jackson between Taylor and Mason) is open weekdays from 7:30am–2:30pm, and weekends from 8am–3pm.
