Two Castro businesses a few hundred feet apart were robbed on Sunday evening within minutes of each other, but it's unclear whether the crimes were related.
In the first incident, which took place at 6:56pm on the 4100 block of 17th Street, a male suspect in his forties entered a store with a handgun and ordered a 27-year-old man to open the register.
After the employee complied, the suspect reached over the counter to grab the cash before fleeing on foot.
At 7:11pm on the 4000 block of 17th Street, a man and a woman who were both approximately 35 years old entered a store and approached the register.
The male suspect then punched a 33-year-old male employee and stole cash before both suspects fled on foot. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and refused medical attention.
Anyone who has information about either incident is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.
