Two cars were stolen at gunpoint overnight in the Bayview district, according to police.

In the first incident, which took place at 11:30pm near the intersection of Hudson and Mendell streets, a 27-year-old woman asked the suspect, a 23-year-old man, to exit her vehicle.

In response, the suspect produced a handgun, aimed it at her, "and demanded the vehicle." After she got out, the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction; no arrest has been made, and the car has not been recovered.

A few hours later, at 1:45am, a 29-year-old man left his car double-parked in the street with the engine running near Bayshore Boulevard and Cortland Avenue when he got into a verbal argument with two male suspects in their twenties.

When one of the suspects got into the car and began to drive away, the victim jumped into the passenger seat, but the suspect brandished a handgun and ordered him to get out of the car. After he exited, the suspect drove off in the stolen car, which has not been recovered.

Anyone who has information about either of these incidents is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.

Here’s why we usually don’t include suspect descriptions in crime reports.
