Five people were critically injured early this morning in a collision between two mid-sized sedans at the intersection of Gough and Bush streets in the Western Addition.
Police are still investigating the incident, which took place just before 5:45am, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.
The vehicles involved were so heavily damaged, first responders used auto-extraction equipment known as the "jaws of life" to reach people who were injured.
According to SFFD, the victims were transported to the trauma center at San Francisco General Hospital.
