In unrelated incidents, robbers stole two vehicles at gunpoint on Saturday, according to police.

The first robbery took place around 10:15am near the intersection of California and Broderick streets when an armed suspect approached a 37-year-old man, pointed a handgun and demanded that he get out and hand over his belongings.

After the victim complied, the suspect fled westbound on California Street in the stolen vehicle with the victim's wallet and cell phone.

In the second carjacking, which happened at 7:07pm on the 500 block of Madrid Street in the Excelsior district, a 77-year-old man was getting out of his car when two male suspects in their late teens approached him and asked for directions.

After the man offered assistance, the younger suspect took his keys before both assailants threatened and attacked the victim. The suspects fled the scene in the victim's car, driving southbound on Madrid Street. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but refused medical treatment.

Anyone who has information about either of these incidents is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.
