Unstable Construction Crane Shuts Down Tenderloin BlockPhotos: @R27D/Twitter

Police have closed a block in the Tenderloin to traffic as workers try to stabilize a construction crane near Golden Gate Avenue and Jones Street. 

As of this writing, the first block of Golden Gate Avenue between Market and Jones streets is closed to vehicles and pedestrians.

Workers at the site are building underground infrastructure for a proposed mixed-use development with 303 units of housing.

Officials closed Golden Gate Avenue between Market and Jones.

According to police, heavy traffic is expected in the area for the next several hours. 

Construction on 1066 Market Street began in January 2018 and is expected to completed by the second quarter of 2020, according to the developer's web site.
