Here are some notable incidents that have taken place since our last biweekly recap covering SFPD's Central District, which encompasses Chinatown, Financial District, Embarcadero, Russian, Telegraph and Nob Hills, North Beach, and Union Square. 

Unless otherwise noted, all reports are drawn from the department's daily summary.

Scooter-riding muggers rob man in Chinatown

Two men riding non-electric scooters assaulted and robbed a man in Chinatown last week, police have reported.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Powell and Washington streets around 9:40 p.m. when two unknown men riding scooters approached a 44-year-old man from behind and struck him. Read our full report.

Man assaulted after walking out of Chinatown business

On May 19 at 4:15 p.m. on the 700 block of Jackson Street in Chinatown, a 41-year-old man was attacked by three male suspects in their twenties. 

According to police, the victim walked out of a store and was assaulted by the three suspects who "threw him down and punched him." The suspects then fled westbound on Jackson Street. 

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported for treatment. 

Victim punched during verbal argument 

In North Beach at 2 a.m. on May 19 on the 500 block of Broadway, a 22-year-old woman was assaulted by another woman in her late twenties.

The two got into an argument as the victim was waiting for a ride. The suspect walked up to her and punched her before fleeing in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

Woman robbed while walking near Union Square

On May 18 at 3:10 p.m. on the corner of Powell and Ellis Streets in Union Square, a 47-year-old woman was robbed by an unknown suspect in his thirties or forties. 

The victim was walking when the suspect approached from behind and grabbed her wallet. A struggle ensued, but the suspect was able to abscond with a wallet containing credit cards and cash. 

No injuries were reported in the incident. 

Hot prowler steals items from elderly resident

On May 16 or 17 between the hours of 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. on the 100 block of Francisco Street in North Beach, a hot prowl burglary occurred. 

According to police, an 85-year-old woman went to sleep and an unknown suspect entered her home and stole a bag, wallet, bank cards, an assortment of clutch-style bags, cash, a medicine pouch with medication, a glucose kit, cell phone and a watch. 

The victim noticed the items missing when she awoke the next morning. 

Two suspects arrested for home invasion

On May 14 at 11:16 p.m. on the 900 block of Larkin Street in Russian Hill, a home invasion robbery occurred. 

Police officers were flagged down by a 17-year-old male who indicated "that there was a man with a gun." Officers entered the building and found two 19-year-old men and took them into custody. 

The victim suffered minor injuries but was not transported for treatment. Also, a pair of house keys were lost during the incident. 

Two suspects rob women at gunpoint

Two women, 65 and 67, were robbed by two unknown suspects on May 13 at 3:38 p.m. on the 100 block of Spofford Street in Chinatown. 

The two suspects entered an area business and brandished handguns, according to reports. They then snatched both of the victim's purses containing cash, cell phones and keys and fled the scene. 

No injuries were reported. 

Victim stabbed by unknown assailant while walking

At 10:45 a.m. on May 12 near the corner of Pine and Front Streets in the FiDi, a 24-year-old man was assaulted by a 40-year-old man. 

The victim was walking with the suspect approached from behind on a bicycle, punched him in the upper arm and then rode away. The victim then realized that he had been stabbed and transported himself to an area hospital for treatment in non-life-threatening condition. 

No arrests have been made. 

Man attacked with beer bottle and robbed

Also in the Financial District just before 5 p.m. on May 11 near the intersection of Clay and Drumm Streets, a 41-year-old man was robbed. 

According to reports, a man in his forties threw a beer bottle at the victim and punched him in the chest. The victim was injured after falling to the ground. The suspect then threatened him with an unknown object before taking the victim's backpack and fleeing the scene. 

The injured victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Hot prowler forces entry into building with crowbar

On May 10 at 7:45 a.m. on the 1600 block of Larkin Street in Nob Hill, a hot prowler robbed a 30-year-old woman. 

An unknown male suspect was seen on surveillance video using a crowbar to gain entry the lobby of a residential apartment complex. Once inside, the suspect entered the victim's apartment where she "screamed at him to get out." 

The suspect fled the scene on a bike westbound on Clay Street with stolen jackets and a pair of earplugs.
