Three suspects stole a dog by force from a man yesterday in SoMa after threatening him with a skateboard, police have reported.

The incident took place around 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday near the intersection of Jessie and Mission streets when a 62-year-old man walking his dog was approached by two women and a man who initiated a verbal argument.

As the altercation escalated, the male suspect began swinging a skateboard and one of the women picked up the dog before all three fled on foot.

According to Officer Robert Rueca of SFPD’s Media Relations Unit, the dog is described as a black and white shih tzu.

Anyone who has information about this incident is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.
