For the second time in less than a year, an Upper Haight boutique is organizing efforts to help people impacted by wildfires in the North Bay.

Love On Haight, Sunshine Powers's clothing boutique (1400 Haight St. at Masonic), has mobilized to become a drop-off point for donations for people who've been displaced by the County Fire, which has burned more than 85,000 acres in Yolo and Napa counties.

"We're collecting donations of all kinds, as long as they're new items—no used clothes," Powers said. "We're sending them up, and we also need help with drivers" to get truckloads of supplies to their destinations.

In coordination with Taking It To The Streets, the drive is the successor to a similar effort Powers coordinated last October to benefit families affected by wildfires.

"We're going to run it indefinitely and maybe even change it to something that we could do on a permanent basis for people in our communities," said Powers.

People who want to assist may drop off dry goods, clothing and other supplies at Love On Haight.

Donors arriving by car are are asked to pull up on the Masonic side, and anyone with a large donation should call 415-817-1027 first to make sure a Taking It To The Streets employee is available to help unload items.
