Here are some notable incidents that have taken place in SFPD's Central District since our last biweekly recap. The district encompasses Chinatown, Financial District, Embarcadero, Russian, Telegraph and Nob Hills, North Beach and Union Square. 

Unless otherwise noted, all reports are drawn from the department's daily summary.

Victim robbed after inviting suspects into home

A 30-year-old man was stabbed and robbed on the 300 block of Green Street on Telegraph Hill after inviting three suspects to his home at about 2 a.m. August 9.

According to police report, the victim met a 21-year-old woman and invited her home. The suspect then asked if she could invite some friends over and the victim said yes. When three male suspects in their 20s arrived, one held a knife to the victim while the others stole his wallet, laptop and desktop computer. 

During the incident, the victim attempted to retrieve his belongings, but was cut multiple times on his hands in the process. The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction. 

The victim refused transport to a hospital and no arrests have been made. 

Woman pushed to the ground after being robbed

At 12:26 p.m. August 6, a 43-year-old woman was robbed by three male suspects on the corner of Battery and California streets in the FiDi. 

The woman was approached by the three suspects, ages approximately 18-25, when one grabbed her mobile phone from her hand. A second suspect then pushed her to the ground, and all three fled on foot southbound on Battery Street with the stolen phone. 

The victim suffered minor injuries to her finger but refused medical treatment.

Hot prowl burglar steals cash from woman's home

A residence on the 700 block of Broadway in Chinatown was burglarized while the resident was home at 7:45 p.m. August 6.

The victim, a 50-year-old woman, was inside her bathroom when an unknown suspect, approximately 30-40-years-old, entered her apartment and took a backpack and handbag, both containing U.S. and Chinese cash. 

No other information about the incident was available.

Suspect attempts to cut man with box cutter, steals lotto tickets

A 30-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint at 2:15 a.m. August 6 on the 100 block of Drumm Street in the FiDi. 

A 20-25-year-old male suspect walked into an area business with a box cutter and attempted to cut the victim but missed. The suspect then stole several lottery tickets and fled the scene. 

No injuries or arrests were reported.

Man steals woman's phone, punches her in the face

A 37-year-old woman was attacked and robbed by a man in his early 20s at 3:40 p.m. August 4 on the 300 block of Bay Street in North Beach.

According to police, the victim was looking at her phone when the suspect approached her and knocked it out of her hand. He then punched her in the face, picked up the mobile phone and fled the scene. 

A witness to the incident later recovered the victim's phone and returned it to her. No arrests have been made.

Police arrest robbery suspect after the act

At 2:35 p.m. August 4 on the 700 block of Sacramento Street in Chinatown, a 32-year-old man was arrested for robbery. 

Police officers witnessed an 81-year-old woman struggling with the suspect, who was attempting to steal her purse. The victim fell to the ground, and the suspect fled on foot but was subsequently taken into custody. 

The victim complained of pain to her hip and knee and suffered an abrasion to her hand.

Man snatches woman's phone and flees

At about at 5:50 a.m. August 4, an unknown suspect stole a woman's phone on the 1700 block of the Embarcadero.

The suspect, a man approximately 20-27-years-old, approached the 30-year-old woman from behind and snatched her cell phone. 

No injuries or arrests were reported in the incident. 

Two suspects rob man atop Telegraph Hill

Two suspects robbed a 30-year-old man August 4 at 2:30 a.m. on the 400 block of Filbert Street on Telegraph Hill.

The suspects, a 35-year-old man and an unknown woman, approached the victim on a sidewalk and demanded he hand over his belongings. One of the suspects went to a corner and acted as a "lookout," according to the police report. 

The victim handed over his backpack, and the suspects fled the scene on foot. Later, the male suspect threw the bag, containing a laptop, away as they fled. The victim was able to recover his belongings, with the exception of his cell phone. 

Man stabbed multiple times in unprovoked incident

A 24-year-old man was stabbed August 4 at 2 a.m. on the 900 block of North Point near Ghirardelli Square. 

According to police, three male suspects, approximately 20-30-years-old, approached the victim and asked him where he was from. The suspects then proceeded to stab him. The victim — who had cuts to his stomach and back — was taken to an area hospital by an unknown person and was in non-life-threatening condition.

Suspect arrested after stealing woman's necklace

Lastly, a 36-year-old woman was robbed August 3 at 8:24 a.m. near the intersection of Jackson Street and Jason Court in Chinatown. 

A 22-year-old woman ripped a necklace from the victim as she was walking on the sidewalk and then fled on foot. The victim followed and officers in the area were able to take the suspect into custody. 

No injuries were reported in the incident.
