A 23-year-old man was shot and killed along the 1100 block of Polk Street (between Post and Sutter streets) early this morning, according to police reports.

The suspect, a 27-year-old man, allegedly shot the unnamed victim with a handgun around 2:23 a.m., in a part of the neighborhood lined with bars and restaurants.

When police arrived at the scene, the victim had already succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

We reached out to police for more details, but a spokesperson told Hoodline that additional information is not available at this time, pending an investigation.

This marks the city's 35th homicide this year, compared to 47 at this time last year

Anyone who has information about any of these incidents is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.
