Tragedy struck the streets of San Jacinto as a pedestrian was fatally hit by a vehicle on Wednesday evening. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department responded to a call at 7:58 PM about a severe traffic collision at the intersection of South San Jacinto Avenue and Shaver Street. When deputies arrived, they found a silver Honda sedan and a pedestrian, grievously injured, on the pavement.

Despite rapid transportation to a local hospital, the victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and was reported to have cooperated fully with the law enforcement officials. Sergeant Christopher Loucks confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to quickly be a contributing factor in the devastating incident, according to the Riverside County Sheriff.

The area around South San Jacinto Avenue was closed temporarily as the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team took over the scene to conduct an in-depth investigation into the collision. Initial reports indicated that the pedestrian had stepped off the sidewalk and directly into the flow of traffic, meeting their untimely end beneath the lights of the Honda sedan.

The identity of the deceased is currently withheld, awaiting the notification of next of kin.
