Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection in Tipton, Trousdale & Williamson Counties This SaturdaySource: Facebook/Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation

This Saturday, the big orange trucks of Tennessee's mobile collection service for household hazardous waste are pulling into Tipton, Trousdale, and Williamson counties. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) is offering a helping hand to locals looking to clean up their acts and their homes, safely disposing of hazardous household items.

Residents from any corner of the state are invited to drop off their nasty household goods without worry of a county line. The trucks can be found at Brighton High School in Tipton County, the Trousdale County Convenience Center, and the Williamson County Administrative Complex, according to details posted on TDEC's announcement. Times vary by location, but early birds and late sleepers alike can unload their hazards between 8:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M.

"We want it to be convenient for Tennesseans to recycle household hazardous waste, and this collection service is a great way to show that commitment,” TDEC Commissioner David Salyers proclaimed.

The service is a veteran in the war against home-based hazards, having started in 1993. Thus far, over 373,000 households have cleaned up their act, properly pitching more than 24 million pounds of what could have been detrimental detritus.
