The Houston Airport System is teaming up with Aunt Flow and TRAX Analytics to install smart tech dispensers loaded with free menstrual products, setting a new bar for airport amenities.

The move will place George Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby airports at the forefront, becoming the nation's first airports to offer such a convenience out of a vending machine. "We are proud to team with TRAX Analytics and Aunt Flow to bring this groundbreaking solution to airport guests, setting a new standard in the airport experience," Liliana Rambo, Houston Airports chief terminal officer, told the Houston Chronicle. The rollout seeks to accommodate guests who often realized they'd run out of products when it was already too late, forcing them to scramble for essentials on the fly.

Founded by Claire Coder, Aunt Flow is a women-owned business with dispensers installed in over 30,000 bathrooms nationwide. "As a company dedicated to menstrual equity and access, Aunt Flow couldn't be prouder of this partnership with Houston Airports and TRAX Analytics bringing free-vend period products to the country's fourth largest airport system," Coder stated in the Houston Chronicle. Through the collaboration, these airports are not only attending to necessity, but also advocating for menstrual equity.

Rambo highlighted their commitment to passengers' comfort. “We’re prioritizing the needs of our guests, ensuring they have convenient access to essential amenities whenever they need them, making their travel experience smoother and more comfortable,” she explained to Click2Houston, TRAX Analytics’ real-time monitoring system guarantees that when a passenger in need arrives, the vending machine, understanding its demanding task, won't find itself empty.

Guests have had access to free tampons and sanitary napkins for over a decade at both Bush Intercontinental and Hobby. However, the introduction of predictive technology ensures that the high demand during specific times of the day is met.
