Missing Person from Oklahoma Found in San Antonio During Dramatic Traffic Stop, Texas Rangers Lead Probe into Potential Kidnapping CaseSource: Google Street View

A dramatic police stop in the heart of San Antonio on Friday led to the discovery of a missing person and five minors, potentially unraveling a kidnapping case that originated over 500 miles away in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The traffic stop, executed by troopers of the Texas Department of Public Safety, became a spectacle for nearby fiesta parade attendees as officers apprehended the driver of a vehicle tied to the case.

The pursuit began when troopers, responding to a BOLO alert for a possible kidnapping, located the black Dodge Durango listed in the alert on Loop 410 east of Starcrest. They were able to successfully follow and conduct a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle near Brooklyn Ave and Avenue B, according to a report by FOX San Antonio.

In the tense moments that unfolded, witnesses described the scene as the detained driver complied with commands from law enforcement. "I came to the door and I saw and I was like what the heck? I saw the officer with the AK," Johnny Piña, a bystander, recounted in a statement obtained by KENS 5. Inside the vehicle, the troopers discovered the missing woman along with the children, all unharmed. They were provided with water and snacks as patrons of a nearby brewery stepped in to assist.

The investigation escalated rapidly as the vehicle had been connected to a Kasey Alert — similar to an AMBER Alert but used when an adult disappears under suspicious circumstances. Sgt. Kenny Jay Mata with the Texas Highway Patrol revealed, "The Broken Arrow Police Department had been pinging the cell phone of the individual they placed the Kasey alert on and they tracked it all the way down to San Antonio, TX," in a statement obtained by KENS 5. The relationship between the detained man, the missing woman, and the five children, as well as the possibility that the man is the ex-husband referred to in the alert, remains under examination.
