A deadly disturbance rocked a quiet Multnomah County neighborhood, leaving one man dead and another in handcuffs. Law enforcement officials were summoned to the 18000 block of Northwest 6th Avenue around 1:15 a.m. Monday, after receiving reports of an incident involving a weapon. According to officials from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), upon arrival, deputies found a 44-year-old male with fatal neck injuries.

Despite valiant efforts to quickly administer lifesaving aid, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The responding MCSO deputy alongside two Portland Police officers were unable to fulfill to reverse the tide of fate. As the investigation unfolds with the East County Major Crimes Team at the helm, they have assured the community that there is no longer a threat to public safety. The team is a collaboration of detectives from MCSO, the Gresham Police Department, the Port of Portland Police Department, Oregon State Police, and the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office.

In the aftermath of the violence, a 42-year-old man was found on the premises and subsequently detained. The identity of the suspect, as well as the circumstances surrounding the altercation, have yet to be disclosed. As of now, authorities have not identified any additional suspects.
