A high-speed chase on Monday turned fatal when a Texas State Trooper fatally shot a 38-year-old man following a collision on FM-78, near Loop 1604, just north of San Antonio. The pursuit, which began as an attempt to pull over a black Dodge Caravan for a traffic violation, quickly escalated to a chase reaching speeds rumored to exceed 110 MPH, according to a Fox San Antonio report.

Following the chase, the driver's attempt to evade law enforcement came to a violent end as his vehicle collided with a white Chevrolet Tahoe. Post-crash, Texas Department of Public Safety officers relayed that their efforts to subdue the suspect with a taser proved futile, ultimately leading to the officer deciding to discharge his weapon, striking the suspect in the chest, as obtained by Fox San Antonio.

The incident resulted in further injuries. A female passenger in the suspect's vehicle was transported to Northeast Methodist Hospital, although the exact nature of her injuries has not been disclosed. Similarly, the female passenger of the Tahoe received medical attention for crash-related injuries at the same hospital. The Tahoe's driver was evaluated on the scene but did not require hospitalization.

The 38-year-old male who was shot was quickly transported to Brooke Army Medical Center, yet the urgency could not overturn his fate. He was pronounced dead shortly upon arrival.
