A Valdosta CFO is facing the music after being slapped with multiple theft charges. Brandi Hammond, 38, found herself in hot water with the GBI, facing eight counts of Theft by Taking and a count of Financial Transaction Card Fraud, according to a GBI report.

The law came knocking on Hammond's door after the Atkinson County Sheriff’s Office reached out to the GBI on July 7, 2023, over allegations that the General Manager and CFO of Freedom Trailers was siphoning company funds. The investigation crescendoed on April 25, 2024, with a raid at her Valdosta crib, where agents unearthed evidence suggesting Hammond pilfered north of $600,000, the GBI detailed.

Local sheriff's offices lent muscle to the GBI as Hammond got cuffed and shipped off to the Atkinson County Jail. The Atkinson and Lowndes County Sheriff's Offices played ball, aiding in the search and capture.

Got a tip that might tighten the screws? The GBI and local law enforcement are calling on informants to dial the Atkinson County Sheriff’s Office at (912) 422-3611 or the GBI’s Douglas office at (912) 389-4103. If you're the silent type, tips can squeak through on the DL via a call to 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), or online by visiting the GBI's tip site, or the See Something, Send Something app.

As for Hammond, her case is en route to the Alapaha Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for the next act: prosecution. As the gavel waits to fall, those with pieces of the puzzle are encouraged to step up and help serve justice.
