In a significant policy shift, the Biden-Harris Administration has recently extended Affordable Care Act (ACA) healthcare coverage to those under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The White House released a statement affirming President Biden's dedication to DACA recipients' well-being and his ongoing effort to secure them the same opportunities afforded to citizens, including quality healthcare coverage.

The reaction to this policy has been widely positive among Democratic leaders. Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) expressed his gratitude on X, stating, "Grateful that @POTUS heeded @HispanicCaucus calls to secure high quality and affordable health care for DACA recipients."

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) highlighted the impact of the rule change, saying, "This is incredible news, and it’s going to make a real difference here in Nevada." According to the White House briefing, over 100,000 DACA recipients are expected to gain eligibility for ACA health coverage starting in November.

Advocacy groups have been quick to celebrate the victory as well, with Voto Latino calling the decision a "HUGE VICTORY" for the more than 100,000 DACA recipients who will now have access to the ACA.

Local government leaders across party lines have joined the chorus of approval. Mesa, Arizona's Republican Mayor John Giles took to X to commend the administration and thanked President Biden for this compassionate move.
