An early morning fiasco unfolded on I-55 as a jackknifed 18-wheeler brought traffic to a grinding halt on the Mississippi River Bridge. The incident, which occurred near Crump Boulevard and Riverside Drive, effectively barricaded commuters from Arkansas into Memphis, leaving them stranded for hours. As per the WREG report, the disruption began to unfold during the morning rush, exacerbating the inconvenience for early commuters.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reported that the accident happened at approximately 4:20 a.m. on Interstate 55 at the Crump Boulevard exit ramp. Images from TDOT's cameras, relayed by FOX13 Memphis, revealed the jackknifed tractor-trailer on the off-ramp as vehicles scrambled to negligibly avoid being drawn into the standstill.

By 7:00 a.m., the obstructive vehicle had been removed, and traffic slowly started to regain its normal pace. The Arkansas Department of Transportation was quick to suggest alternate routes during the incident. They encouraged motorists to use the Interstate 40 Hernando DeSoto Bridge in an attempt to somewhat alleviate the upheaval caused by the accident on the Memphis side of the bridge. According to the KAIT8 news report, this advice came shortly after the disruption was reported.
