The Knoxville Police Department has gone public with body-cam footage from a shooting on April 27th that left a suspect dead at a Santala Drive residence. The video, capturing a confrontation that turned deadly, is now circulating online with a warning for its highly graphic content.

Officers Hunter Powers and Cayden Riddle responded to a domestic disturbance call at around 7:50 a.m. According to the police report, 25-year-old Jamauri Griffin was armed when he appeared at the 4705 Santala Drive home. During the incident, as caught on the newly released video, Griffin shot a female victim. The graphic footage shows the police's subsequent shooting of Griffin, who was pronounced dead at the scene, while the injured woman, a 23-year-old, was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has taken the reins in probing the shooting, following protocol. The Knoxville Police Department's Office of Professional Standards is concurrently carrying out their own internal review. Meanwhile, Officers Powers and Riddle are on routine administrative leave as part of standard procedure post-critical incident.

The department has stated that the aim of releasing such video is to keep the community informed of events leading up to the use of force by officers. They prioritize a swift public release, cooperating with District Attorney General Charme Allen and the TBI to shed light on these situations. Investigations on both the shooting and the officers' conduct during the incident are still active and ongoing.
