A man in his early 50s was gunned down while he was about to leave for work in northwest Harris County earlier today, officials said. The violence broke out shortly before 3:15 a.m. on Wimbledon Oaks Rd., where the victim was found dead in his vehicle, riddled with bullets.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that the man "got in his vehicle, set to go to work" when an unidentified assailant opened fire, striking him several times. The man's identity has not been released.

The area, situated off Hwy 290 & Huffmeister, is currently an active crime scene. According to a follow-up by Click2Houston, no suspects have been identified and the motive behind the shooting remains a mystery. Law enforcement officials are combing through evidence as part of a vigorous investigation.
The Sheriff's Office has yet to provide additional information surrounding the circumstances of the man's death. Community members are pleading for anyone with knowledge to come forward.
